In the fourth and final of our posts on our Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme (PSS), Small Animal General Practice accreditation, another of the areas that the assessor was impressed with, was our commitment to sustainability.

This is what the assessor fed back to us on the subject:

Sustainability is a strongly developing theme in this practice and it is lovely to see such investment in this area.

Part of our ethos at Cat’s Whiskers is to be as environmentally friendly as we can be. For some time now we have focussing on going digital, which saves on our use of paper and printing materials. One of the ways which we achieve this in the clinic itself, is to use laminated, wipe free boards for recording everything from in-patients records which are attached to individual kennels whenever we have a cat in residence, to operations check lists. Pictured are the lovely Kali and Lily, with their wipe free in-patient records on their kennel.

Everything we source is done with the environmental impact in mind, even our uniforms are made using eco-friendly material. We re-cycle and re-use as much material as we possibly can, have reduced our daily wholesale delivery to twice weekly and are always looking for ways to reduce our environmental foot print further.

Our aim is to have a Greener Paw Print overall, so have a look at our Environmental Sustainability Policy on our website to see what measures we already have in place and our commitments for the future. Here’s the link…A Greener Paw Print
