Cats that have to fend for themselves will eat 12-16 small meals a day and spend at least 50% of their time hunting. Many of these hunts will be unsuccessful. As owners, we need to recreate this at home.

Once you have decided the type of food to feed your cat, you will need to work out their daily allowance. We are happy to help with working this out.

Dry food should be weighed every day with electronic scales, it is very easy to overestimate the quantity fed unless you do!

If possible your cat should be fed at least 5 times daily. If feeding wet food, a mouse sized portion is appropriate.
Dry food can be placed in puzzle feeders. These can be commercial or homemade and the aim is to encourage natural hunting behaviour and this in turn will lead to a cat that is happier, leaner cat! If feeding wet food, a mouse sized portion is appropriate. There are feeders available for wet food.
