Having regular checks for your cat is essential to their well-being, especially as they get older. Senior pet checks are a way of flagging up any health issues your cat may have, and being able to treat them easily. Here at Cat’s Whiskers, our Registered Veterinary Nurse Vicky can chat with you about any conditions affecting your elderly pet.

What are common conditions in senior pets?

  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Overactive Thyroid
  • Arthritis
  • Dental Diseases
  • Grooming
  • Fleas/Worms

What is included in a senior health check?

  • Comprehensive health check
  • Senior cat blood test
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Urine test
  • Advice

Whilst with you and your senior feline, Vicky can discuss ways you can help improve your cat’s quality of life. For example, if your cat has arthritis, Vicky can help by discussing how to get a lower sided litter tray if your cat is struggling to use the toilet as well as using small foot stalls to help them get up onto a sofa or bed.

Grooming is very important for cats, and as they mature this can be difficult for them and sometimes they may not be able to groom themselves. Vicky can groom cats here at the clinic, and can also give advice on how you can do this at home too.

All of this advice comes free as part of your health check, and in addition you can always pop in without your cat for a chat with Vicky before booking your cat in for a senior cat check, or call Vicky and she can give you advice over the phone.
