Nurse Clinics

You don't always have to see a Vet...there are many things our Veterinary Nurse can do

Our Veterinary Nurse is able to offer clinics for grooming and nail clips, nutritional advice and weight management, kitten health checks and senior health checks, as well as microchipping. While our Veterinary Nurse may not be able to make a definitive diagnosis, she is able to help with many routine problems and queries, such as how to brush your cat's teeth, how to administer medication and how to prevent fleas.

Nutritional Advice & Weight Management

Our Veterinary Nurse is able to give advice on nutrition, healthy and safe weight loss, exercise and activities, with weight management plans tailored to your cat's age and lifestyle.

Unlimited visits for weight checks with our Veterinary Nurse are included on our Pet Health Plan

  • Feeding and Diet
  • Vaccinations
  • Fleas and Worms
  • Neutering
  • Insurance
  • Toys
  • Behaviour
  • Pet Health Plans

Are you thinking of purchasing or rescuing a kitten or cat OR are you a new owner?

The above Nurse Clinic is also available for clients who are considering purchasing or rescuing a kitten or cat and would like the most up-to-date advice on how to care for their new addition to the family.

   Senior Health Checks

Older CatOlder cats can age up to seven times faster than we do and have special health needs which is why we advise check ups every 6 months for cats over 8 years old.If medical problems are recognised and treated when they are first detected, the treatment may be easier for your cat and less costly for you. In an effort to be proactive about this issue, we are offering our clients a  reduced rate package  through our Nurse Clinics.

What does this include?

During a 30 minute appointment, our Veterinary Nurse will perform a full 10 point health check, including examination of ears, nails and teeth. You will have time to discuss any concerns you have about your cat’s health, diet and behaviour. The following services are included during the senior health check:

  • Blood pressure check - Cats are at risk of developing high blood pressure and heart disease as they age.
  • Urine sample test to check kidney and liver function and check for diabetes.
  • General Health Blood Profile - This enables us to detect early changes especially the function of the liver and kidneys and check for common problems affecting older cats like hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus.

Furthermore clients who book dental procedures as a direct result from the Senior Health Check, will receive 10% off the cost of their cat's dental work.

Grooming & Dematting

Grooming a cat

Regular grooming is essential to prevent hair balls and digestive upsets. This can be difficult in some long haired cats.

Our Veterinary Nurse is on hand to help with grooming and dematting (please note that some cats may need to be sedated for dematting).

Microchipping

Tracer® is a microchip for permanent identification of pet animals. The microchip, hardly bigger than a grain of rice, is designed to sit comfortably under your cat’s skin. Tracer is the most comprehensive animal identification system available in the UK. Every Tracer Advance chip has a unique 15-digit code, and this is the key to your pet's details - including your name, address and phone number.Tracer Advance is invisible and can't be tampered with but, most importantly, microchipping is highly effective and is our preferred method of permanent identification.

Microchipping is offered at a  discounted rate  to clients whose cats are on our Pet Health Plan (click here to find out more).

Microchipping is also offered at a  discounted rate  if performed by our Veterinary Nurse during a Nurse Clinic or while your cat is under sedation or general anaestheic for a procedure (e.g. neutering).

Tails was missing for 4 months before being reunited with his owners thanks to his microchip. Click here to read Tails' story told by his owner.

UK PETS Travel Scheme

If you are thinking of taking your pet abroad with you on holiday you will need to ensure that your pet has been fitted with a microchip before it is vaccinated against rabies. DEFRA recommend that an ISO standard chip is used and Tracer® is compliant with the ISO Standards. Identification by tattoo is not accepted.
For further, more detailed information on the Pet Travel Scheme we recommended that you visit the DEFRA government web site.
